As part of the Aiming High for Disabled Children programme the Department for Children, Schools and Families committed £5 million between 2008 and 2011 to support the development of the involvement of parent carers in the planning and strategic development of services for disabled children. Between 2008 to 2010, £3 million is available through grants and support to help groups develop parent participation activities in each local authority area across England.
In Phase 1, a grant of £3,300 was awarded to groups developing parent participation in 147 local authority areas, to be spent by March 2009. In Phase 2, a grant of £10,000 was awarded to 152 local authority areas. This grant is to be spent by March 2010.
Grant levels for parent participation for 2010-11 have now been confirmed. A parent participation grant of £10,000 will be available in each local authority area in 2010-11. We will shortly be publishing the Phase 3 application forms on the TDC website, along with a new set of criteria and guidance on how the grant can be used. The closing date for applications is the 30 April.
All Phase 2 grant recipients must submit a Phase 2 Monitoring Form by 26 March 2010. This form details how the grant has been spent, and what has been achieved. The form can be downloaded below. There is also a guidance document on how to keep accounts. Grant recipients should ensure they are familiar with these requirements when they receive the grant, and are maintaining records in sufficient detail to allow completion of the Grant Monitoring Form in March 2010.
