Together for Disabled Children > WhatsNew > Share the Care Week (7-14 March 2010) - Resources

18-Feb-10 12:00 AM
Share the Care Week (7-14th March) will launch a new campaign “Be the BIG Difference”. This will focus on the results of a national survey. The survey shows that although public awareness of short breaks is low a high number of people would consider doing it if they knew about the opportunity.

As part of the campaign, Shared Care Network are launching a new DVD of seven films (funded by the DCSF's BIG Recruitment Challenge) which show the different sorts of short breaks people can offer. They include befriending, outreach, family based short breaks and sitting and show how short break carers support disabled children and their families.

At registration, Shared Care Network can provide you with;
  • press release templates to help you obtain local media coverage
  • the DVD "Be the BIG Difference" to recruit carers
  • poster and advert templates
  • photographs to use in your publicity and recruitment materials
  • advice on how to advertise or recruit carers in your area
  • a guide to “what works”
Shared Care Network can also list your short break service on the searchable map at the campaign website at the link below
